Sarah Nava Garvey is vice president of State and Local Government Relations for Washington, D.C., Operations of The Boeing Company. In this capacity she leads the state and local government relations team and sets the strategy and direction for the team as it serves the business units of the Company. Garvey is also responsible for Government Relations for The Boeing Company’s World Headquarters in Chicago.
Prior to joining Boeing, Garvey held several leadership positions in the tax and merger-and-acquisition areas. She was a partner with the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche, where she led several groups.
Garvey has a strong commitment to the community and has served on the boards of many business, civic, and charitable organizations in the Chicago area. In addition to the Chicago Sister Cities Board of Directors, she currently serves on the boards of the Renaissance Society, Scholarship Chicago, U.S. Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Civic Committee of Chicago, and Leadership Greater Chicago; and on the women’s boards of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Brookfield Zoo. She has previously served on the boards of the First Bank of Americas, Advocate Health Care, Shedd Aquarium, National Kidney Foundation, and Open Lands Project.
Garvey graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master’s degree in Professional Accounting. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant.
