The Hamburg Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International and The Goethe Institut Chicago co-hosted their annual international exchanges panel for teachers involved in Chicago-Hamburg school exchanges. The purpose of the panel was to share information and best practices.

On July 2011, ten social workers from Hamburg, Germany and one from Birmingham, England spent two weeks studying both urban and rural social services in Illinois.
