History:  Lucerne began as a small fishing village and developed into a flourishing trade center because of its strategic location. Throughout its history, Church and State have been partners in determining the lives of its citizens.

Did you know? Lucerne is home to the Picasso Museum, which boasts an impressive permanent collection of the Spanish master’s works, as well as nearly 200 photographs of the artist at work.

The Lucerne Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International in collaboration with the John Marshall Law School and Consulate General of Switzerland, co-hosted a cocktail reception and a jazz performance by Swiss musician Christoph Erb, tenor and saxophonist, along with local Chicago artists Jason Stein, bass clarinet, Jason Roebke, bass and Mike Reed, drums.
