Location: Central Europe Geography: Located on the Vltava River in the center of the Bohemian Basin. History: When the First World War ended with the defeat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, Prague was selected to become the capital of the newly formed country of Czechoslovakia. Industry: Pharmaceuticals, printing, food processing, computer technology and electrical engineering. Flag Description: Two horizontal halves, the top half is white and the bottom half is red. Located on the left hand side is a blue triangle, which is pointing towards the center of the flag.

The Prague Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International, in collaboration with the Consul General of the Czech Republic Dana Huòatová, invites you to join them in their Czech National Day celebration with a concert dedicated to the 170th birthday of Antonín Dvoøák. His music will be exclusively performed by students and graduates of Roosevelt University. All of the young artists performing in the concert are members of the Professional Diploma in Opera Program at CCPA in conjunction with Chicago Opera Theater, under the direction of Scott Gilmore.

The Prague Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International and the Consul General of the Czech Republic presented an evening of music from the world-class Smetana Trio from Prague and introduced historic Thalia Hall to Chicago's cultural communities. Proceeds from the evening went to the Foundation for Emerging Artistic Talent (E.A.T.) and the restoration of Pilsen's landmark Thalia Hall.
