GALWAY: Spirit of Galway Delegation in Chicago Spirit of Galway Delegation The Galway Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International hosted the annual Spirit of Galway delegation, August 18-21. Mayor Padriag Coneely, City of Galway along with City Council and Chamber of Commerce members met with Mayor Daley, visited the Grainne sculpture at Heritage Green Park and attended receptions at Irish Oak and Lizzie McNeil’s. 8.6.2008
SOCIAL SERVICE: Chicago Exchange Program The 2008 Chicago/Hamburg/Birmingham Social Work Exchange Program delegation was in Chicago from July 26 - August 2 to celebrate the tenth exchange between these cities. The three sister cities learned from cultural dialogue to improve social services in the global community.

HAMBURG: Sister School Visit to Germany
By: Chris Clott, Hamburg Committee Member and Director, Center for International Education, Saint Xavier University in Chicago In March of 2008, a group of 13 business students from the Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University in Chicago accompanied Dr. Christopher Clott on a travel/study tour of Germany centered on travel to Hamburg and Berlin. With assistance from Christophe Lichtenfeld, Kirsten Brandt, and other members of the Chicago-Hamburg Sister Cities committee, the business students were able to visit a number of businesses and cultural settings during the 10 day tour. The objective of the tour was to have a snapshot of Germany as it continues to develop as one of the leading nations within the European Union.

Chicago Wins Sister Cities Education Award
Chicago Recognized for Innovation in Youth & Education Sister Cities International honored Chicago Sister Cities International Program (CSCIP) for their outstanding sister city program, population over 500,000, at its annual conference this summer in Kansas City, MO. Sister Cities International honors cities for their programs in the United States that work around the globe to promote understanding and peace.
