The Vilnius Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International in partnership with the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture invites you to participate in the Easter Egg Decorating Workshop
On Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. Learn the ancient art of decorating eggs using the etching technique!
Easter is the first spring holiday, celebrating the rebirth of nature, and the dyed egg is the primary symbol of this holiday, signifying life, goodness and bountiful harvest. Easter egg decorating is traditionally a family affair, done on the Saturday before Easter. Attendees need to bring 6 hard boiled dyed eggs. The instruction sheet, pattern sheet and etching knife will be provided.
The attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the new exhibit of unique Easter Eggs made by the late Ramute Plioplys (www.ramute-plioplys.com). The new documentary entitled Lithuanian Traditional Foods will be shown after the workshop. Light refreshments will be served.
