Serbia is going to invest 9 billion euros in the energy and mining sector in the next 6-7 years, Energy and Mining Minister Petar Skundric said.
“We are going to invest 9 billion euros from our budget or from a strategic partnership,” Skundric told domestic Tanjug news agency.
He added that some 700 million euros will be invested in mine development related to energy, or in new lignite mines.
Skundrić announced a major investment, together with international mining group Rio Tinto (www.riotinto.com), in the new mine Jadarit near Loznica, which is estimated to contain about 227 million tons of ore.
