Chicago Public Schools to Participate in Model U.N.

CPS is collaborating with United Nations Association-USA to create an opportunity for CPS Middle and High Schools students to participate in a Model United Nations Conference. Students have been assigned the role of ambassador to a given country and will be broken up into committees that mirror those at the United Nations.

During the Model U.N. conference, these students will utilize previously executed research to debate, discuss and work diplomatically with other students (representing other countries) to create a resolution to the given topic.

The Conference will take place May 28 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at McCormick Place West. Check in at school registration located outside room 196ab.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the following tasks:
Assist in the committee sessions – working with the Middle School Pages.
Assist in Conference Services in Typing the resolutions that are sent by the committees to be typed for presentation
Assist in crowd control
Assist in set up and breakdown

Any Sister Cities committees interested in participating should contact Gregory Smith at gbsmith@cps.k12.il.us or via phone at 773-553-4139 by Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
