Share Your Soles Needs Your Help to Ship Shoes to Haiti’s Most-in-Need

In 2009, Chicago Sister Cities International developed a cooperative partnership with Share Your Soles, a humanitarian organization led by Mona Purdy dedicated to providing shoes to those most in need around the world.

Realizing the urgent need for shoes In the wake of the January 12 Haiti earthquake, Mona and Share Your Soles have pledged a donation of 10,000 pairs of shoes to victims of the crisis. To date, 5000 pairs have been delivered, but to ensure that supplies to continue being shipped and distributed, Share Your Soles needs your help.

Volunteers are needed to process, package and prepare shoe shipments at the Share Your Soles warehouse and processing center in Alsip. Monetary donations, in any size, are also crucial, and every dollar will help.

To make a donation, please visit http://shareyoursoles.org/ or call (708) 448-4469 for additional information. Click here to download a full press release.

Chicago Sister Cities International looks forward to further collaboration with Share Your Soles in 2010, which will include volunteer opportunities and a city-wide shoe drive. Check www.chicagosistercities.com for additional information.
