2009 Pan American/Ibero-American and USA Nationals Weightlifting Championships

On behalf of World Sport Chicago and the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid we would like to invite you to attend the 2009 Pan American/Ibero-American and USA Nationals Weightlifting Championships, a first-round qualifier for the 2011 Pan-American Games. This international Olympic sporting event, which takes place in Chicago from June 4 – 7, 2009, brings together more than 200 top athletes from over 20 nations from around the western hemisphere. These countries include: Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and Spain.

Click here to see the flyer.

The event offers Chicago one of the last big opportunities to demonstrate our support of the Olympic Movement and international athletes. To help demonstrate Chicago’s passion for sport and its cultural diversity we are inviting groups to attend this world-class event and support the competitors.

Below you will find a brief overview of the 2009 Weightlifting Champions and we invite you to share this information with your friends, family and community members. We also encourage you to learn more about the sport of Olympic weightlifting and this event by visiting http://www.worldsportchicago.org.

As a gift to Chicago communities we are excited to offer tickets to the event free of charge. Please call rEvolution at 312-529-5850, for more information and to reserve your group’s tickets today. As we get closer to the event we will follow up with you to finalize your ticket reservations and, for larger groups, help with transportation needs.

As a celebration of the many cultures represented by the Pan-American collection of countries and to make the competing athletes feel as if they are home here in Chicago, rEvolution is also interested in recommendations, volunteers and donations for the following:

Dance Groups/Bands – Dance groups and bands will be invited to entertain either during the competition and/or at the opening ceremonies on June 4th at the UIC Forum

Posters/Flags – Country flags, cultural posters, etc., will be displayed at the UIC Forum during the competition in World Sport Chicago’s Pan-American Panorama Gallery

Recorded Music – Songs, chants, musical pieces, etc., will be played during athlete introductions and between competition sessions, A Statement of Rights permitting use must be given by original composers and performers.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact Phil Pennington at (312) 529-5836 or via email ppennington@revolutionworld.com. We look forward to seeing you at the 2009 Pan American/Ibero-American and USA Nationals Weightlifting Championships in June.
