The 3 year-old Chinese-American Museum of Chicago sustained a devastating fire on September 19, 2008. Many items from their irreplaceable document and artifact collection were destroyed. The Chinatown Museum Foundation Board has agreed to salvage the 1895 building and is extremely eager to rebuild what was damaged in the fire.
The cultural & museum community in Chicago is coming together to help the Chinese community restore its museum so that they may continue to educate others about the rich Chinese culture and heritage in our city.
