Urs Leimgruber will perform in Chicago at the Hideout on May 27 and at the Elastic on May 28. In Milwaukee he will give a concert in the Woodland Pattern Book Center on May 31.
Leimgruber makes his home in Paris (France) and Lucerne (Switzerland). He has been active for many years in the areas of contemporary improvisation, composition, jazz, and new music. Leimgruber is a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet and the ARTE Saxophone Quartet. His mastery of the saxophone has been described as protean. This is a truly apt depiction, as Leimgruber can make the saxophone sound like drum beats, the guitars or the resonance of gongs. Leimgruber’s saxophone playing promises to paint a vast and fascinating sound landscape.
